Regarding books, I'm sure I can get my friend Peter van der Linden to donate
a signed book to JLUG; his recently published Guide to Linux, if I recall
right, it is published by Prentice-Hall...and I'd bet he might make a
discount available for JLUG members. I'll ask him. ;)
It's pretty comprehensive and covers instruction on the command line and
deskop well into advanced topics. For server admins it's prolly a waste, but
for Linux newbies like me that are into the desktop it has advanced aspects
that have been very helpful.

This isn't meant to be a plug for his stuff, because Peter's a
pain-in-the-arse kinda guy in real life. So I won't insert a link to his 10
or 12 books on Amazon. However, he writes good stuff and presents the topics
well. Well enough for this newbie. I recommend him.

P.S. I've never met Peter in real life, but then again I met my wife
online. Go figure.
