No.  We have no legal identity - just a bunch of people who get together
from time to time.  I think we would have a hard time meeting the
requirements for a non-profit:  We would need officers mainly - that
means more people than you, Toby, and I.  We would also need officers
with time on their hands.  The other stuff, legalese bylaws, etc. can
all be worked through.  Our achilles heel is people.  (Note that not
even the AK-LUG is a real organization.  The only LUG I know of in
Alaska that would be "real" is the UAF LUG, as they are a student
group - so they are under the University of Alaska's umbrella.)

No.  It's an idea that I think a few of us share, but you know how the
meetings have been going - 5 people one month, 2 the next.  I'm hoping
to change that with more presentations, etc.  Without a stable core
membership base I think any community outreach plans would be more
likely to fall flat than actually help anyone.  However, it's something
that _I_ for one fully support.

Hmm.  We're a private group of professionals interested in helping the
Juneau/Southeast Alaska community.  I think saying anything more than
that would be iffy at best.
