JLUG members-

If LUG member feedback is positive, I can probably procure a computer lab
classroom
at the UAS campus for a future LUG meeting.

The room offers several nice benefits:

-wireless Internet coverage campus wide
-"Internet 2" OC3 connection; 155 megabits per second which=100 T1 lines
-100MBit Ethernet (it's a networking classroom)
-built-in overhead projector with VGA in for presentations
-20+ PC's with removable hard drive's that can have your Linux distro of choice
installed.
-About a half-dozen of above mentioned PC's are already preinstalled with Fedora
Core 3.

I think the UAS provided lab PC's would be an excellent no-hassle way to bring
fresh blood into the Linux community by providing some preinstalled Linux
machines
to mess around with.

After I attended my first JLUG meeting in April, I'm still unclear as to it's
goal
or direction in the immediate future. I don't know if the goal is even to bring
linux newbies in or stay geared more toward advanced users and topics.

If you don't see this proposal as offering any benifit over the LUG's current
Public Library arrangement, please let me know and I won't persue the matter
further. I know most of the advanced users have their own pre-installed Linux
laptops anway.

Anyway, I hope to hear back from you all one way or the other,

-Aaron Cook
