Your suggestion of "Learning Perl" in stead of "Programming Perl" was a good
one.  This is just what I have been looking for.  It certainly makes my
linux machine more useable having a language like Perl to use on it.  I've
worked though several chapters and all the examples so far.  They are pretty
simple to do, but worth going through because I'm learning from the mistakes
in typing or by typing in some of the examples presented in the text just to
see what they really do.
