Ok, here is what I see on the screen:

VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
Mounted devfs on /dev
Red Hat Nash version 3.1.6-mdk starting
Loading JBD Module
Journalled block device driver loaded
Loading ext3 module
Mounting /proc filesystem
Creating root divice
Mounting root filesystem with flags noatime
kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
ext3-fs: Mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
Remounting devfs at correct place if necessary
mounted devfs on /dev
freeing unused kernel memory: 136k freed
INIT: version 2.83 booting
Setting default font (Lat1-16):
[OK]

                                        Booting, please wait...
                                        Welcome to Mandrake Linux 9.0
Press 'I' to enter interactive startup.

Running devfs daemon
        [OK]
Unmounting intrd:
                [OK]
Configuring kernel parameters:
[OK]

Then that is all I get. just a blank line after the last [OK]. I am using
a Gateway Profile 466mhz 256Mb ram and 4mb video. I use a Linksys Hub for
internet connection sharing with another computer here in the office.
Thanks for your help everyone!

Mike

That's weird. I never had a problem with redhat 8.0 or mandrake 9 they
both detected my firewire device. I'm thinking that if it is just a
black screen with the blinking curser then it is having a problem with X
might try ctrl + alt+ backspace to try and kill x and see if that brings
you to a login screen. ??????
More info on what else is on the screen would really help...
