Well, feel free to take the job or nominate a meeting scheduler. I've
brought this up before and nobody seems to want the job.

I used to just schedule the meeting at the library and put the info up
on the web page, but then people complained about the day and/or
location and only two people would show up. So I started asking on
the newsgroup, but then we have trouble setting a date and again
people are unhappy.

So the current situation is more or less like this: If I'm not busy,
I'll start the "[month] meeting" thread, and a few people propose
dates. I'll then chase down a meeting location, which Alfie has
provided the last few times. If nobody agrees on a date, or we have a
date but no location for the meeting (and the library is booked), we
don't have a meeting. It is frustrating for me too, but sometimes I
don't have time to follow through.

In the past we've discussed LUG organization, officers, etc. but
nobody actually wants to follow through. But maybe it's time to try
again.

We need a meeting scheduler - that much is clear. We should also have
some sort of leadership. Proposed in the past was a "Core" group.
This group of people would take responsibility for managing the LUG -
recruiting members, doing things like installfests, splitting up the
web page hosting, helping newbies, and coming up with interesting and
fun ideas for the meetings. If you want the LUG to be an interesting
& vibrant place then these jobs will have to be done, not just talked
about.

Cheers,

James
