I think it has to do with the ecartis settings at freelists.org.  I know that I 
do not have the same problems with the AKLUG list, also ecartis.  (Although you 
do see some =20 endings there from time to time.)

It is another reason to locally co-lo a server.  We can manage our own mailing 
list.  :)
