I think it would be great.  Using our hardware instead of Byte's is possible.  
I have a dual 1GHz PIII Xeon with 2GB RAM.  It's a state surplus Compaq 
ML530.  Barely used - not even dust bunnies inside.  I got it with a mind to 
somehow use it for the LUG, but I didn't want to try to talk my wife into 
restoring our cable modem/static IP again.

Right now it only has 6 18GB drives - that raid's out to 90GB, though, more 
than we have on tap at juneau-lug.org.

Real or virtual, a co-lo server would let the LUG set up an "admin team" to do 
real live Linux stuff and split responsibility for things.
