I think the onboard RAID will be fine, it is just that you can't get to the 
BIOS without the SCU software installed.

I got the disks made today, so it's just a matter of creating the partition 
and installing the software - the floppy disks can do that for me according 
to HP's website.

Then I'll drop a minimal Etch install on the box and we wait for a meeting to 
get it set up.

(Maybe someone to help me move the server, or else we have the meeting here.)
