Yes, mine was working, then I broke it when I upgraded my kernel.  The fix
was in the fstab.

It will read a disc which already has data on it, but will not recognize
a blank disc. I believe it has something to do with it having to be
recognized as a scsi drive. I think I have to turn on scsi emulation in
the kernel, I'm not sure how to go about that. -Jim
