Yeah, the geek factor of the laptop is pretty high.

But it's not all roses --

The nVidea nForce chipset isn't fully supported. So I need to disable some
parts of ACPI to get it to boot and remain up. And I still get the
occasional lockup. The solution is to turn off ACPI completely, but then I
lose important things like powernow support.

The headphones do not work. There is a headphone jack and a s/pdif jack.
Neither work. I do have sound from the main speakers, but the alsa system
only sees one master volume level - no right/left, and the microphone level
is permanently set at 0.

Everything else seems to work fine. During this week I'll test the ieee1394
system thoroughly, as there's no point in having the DVD burner if I can't
pull video off of my miniDV recorders.

The only way cool thing so far is that the remote control is hardware based,
not Windows based. So I can turn the machine on from 10 feet away and make
Grub choices with the remote buttons. Now if I can figure out how to get the
remote to open the display and select a DVD from the other room. Maybe I
need an Aibo...
