Xandros Desktop OS (even Open Circulation) comes with the "usual
suspects" as far as programming languages/compilers go. To further
clarify, Xandros is a Debian-based distribution, so any .deb package
installs quite easily if you find you're missing something you want
post-install. Additionally, MANY .rpm packages installed natively
without issue for me, but your mileage may vary of course.

Just to clarify, the Open Circulation edition of Xandros really only has
a few MINOR (well, what I would consider minor) differences from their
commercial product line. It includes Open Office while their commercial
releases include Star Office instead (I think I actually prefer Open
Office, personally), doesn't include the Mozilla web suite by default
(but allows you to install it quite easily afterwards, with about 5
post-install mouse clicks), and limits CD burning speed to 4X, which
isn't as bad as it sounds. And iff you want CD burning higher than 4X,
there are community contributions (i.e., "hacks" or work-arounds) that
remove that limitation. See
http://www.xandros.com/products/desktop_matrix.html for the full list of
differences in their product line.

For the record.... I don't work for Xandros, nor do they pay me for my
"endorsement." Their distribution genuinely impressed me as a viable
desktop replacement for many/most tasks. As I mentioned in my previous
post, if more of my games played (well) under Linux in general, all of
my home PC's would be running some flavor of Xandros Desktop OS.

Hope this helps,
Jason
