The Debian PowerPC install went well last night, with only one small hiccup.
Using the floppy images from the Woody CDs, Nels' PowerComputing (?) c180
booted up just fine, but then hung trying to expand the root image from the
second floppy. Booting with a Mac OS 8 system disk floppy (from the NetBSD web
site) let us upgrade the OpenFirmware. Try number two with the Debian floppies
worked fine, and Nels started dealing with the familiar Debian installer. From
that point on, the only major difference between an i386 install and the
PowerPC install was the fdisk version used for Macs, and the fact that the
video card was not PCI. The install finished up just as the library staff
started turning off the lights.

During the install Nels and I were talking about home networks getting too big
to manage with host files, and how DHCP and Dynamic DNS might be a solution
worth looking at. I was going to put together a quick demo & howto on it for
January. (The Tower of Power might make an appearance since it is configured
this way already.)

Any other topics people are interested in seeing?

Cheers,

James
