Fishing, right. Been out several times, had my bait bitten in half a
couple of times but so far nothing's stuck around long enough to take
home. I was out just this morning w/my buddy Jeff. Now, this is a guy
that growls in disgust when folks bring seafood to work. As a matter of
fact we had his family over for king crab quiche one night. His wife is
saying "righteous!" and he's all "you got anything else to eat?" But he
bought a boat and loves to get out on the water so we've been trying to
get our share of king salmon.

Well, this morning we were down at the south end, not quite to Pt.
Bishop and he ties into a nice one. It hit really lightly and he
thought he had a bullhead or was bumping bottom or something. He's
never caught a salmon before, but got in on the game right quick. He
started getting pretty excited when the fish ran a couple times, and
jumped a bit. Sad thing was, the leader either frayed or broke at the
knot and the critter got away. It was a nice fish, and now Jeff's a
sold out fisherman. He'll be replaying it in his head for the next
several days.

Whether or not he'll eat his catch I don't know (but I know his wife
will!) Assuming he learns how to tie on a leader properly. <g>

Just to bring things back on track, we discussed maybe doing a GPS/Linux
dog and pony show at one of the meetings. Maybe a good theme for June?
I ran out of mad money before I bought a GPS but still hope to get one
before summer's end. Gotta get those halibut holes pegged!

S'later...
