Something I've been wanting to do for a long time too - either using CDs or
DVDs (I don't have a DVD burner at the moment) but making a VCD is almost as
good. Anyway, here's a few links which you may have already found, that are
somewhat germain to the topic at hand...

Subject: [juneau-lug] Burning DVD Video

Anyone know of a DVD Video authoring package for Linux? Something along the
lines of iMovie for Macs.

After some looking around, I see a lot of packages dealing with DVD Data,
and packages like Kino that will make .avi movies, and even dvdauthor to put
together the menus. However dvdauthor depends on the video streams being
already built. I'm not interested in ripping existing DVD video - I'd like
to burn a DVD that will play in a DVD player using video from my mini-DV
camera (which comes out in .avi format).

Maybe I'm just confused about the video format that DVD video comes in.

Hints anyone?

Cheers,

James
