That exact same thing happened to me. One time when I wasn't think with
both my brain cells, I called up ACS to order the pipe because it had a
10-day free trial. They took over 2 hours to test my line and upgrade the
card in their switch. During this time I had no phone and no one called me
letting me know that I would unable to use it. I guess I got one of the
first versions of their ppoe clients because it would always lock up soon
after boot. I returned the modem on the 9th day. Come the next billing, I
was charged some $260 for the modem even though I returned it, and they
even charged me for 2 months of pipe service on top of that. Needless to
say I had a very bad experience.

When the state was negotiating w/ ACS after they were awarded the telecom
RFP I was able to meet w/ Jeff Tyson, VP of ACS Internet. I told him what
happened and was very apologetic about the whole ordeal.

I'm not sure how much I can say with the ACS non-disclosure agreement fresh
in my mind, but we had a problem getting some people to do what they were
suppose to within ACS, thus preventing and hindering us from doing our job.
Jeff Tyson came in and actually listened to our gripes and what needed to
be done. Flipped open his StarTac and made some phone calls. This did start
to happen like they should of in the first place.

I hear some rumor that ACS is going to offer a discounted pipe service to
state employees. I don't know if this is fact or fiction, but people have
been calling up asking about it, and I did hear some office banter about
it. If that is true, it should even cover UAS employees. I'll keep everyone
informed about any new deals.
