Hi Yamuna,
No you're not missing anything I'm afraid, it was a passing thought really, I
tried inserting the Cakewalk TTS through the audio track fx bin, and it still
shows up in the synth rack, I then pressed 'O' for options on the synth in
there, and it brought up the standard soft synth insertion dialog, I chose
multiple outputs,I was hoping it would then create the multiple audio outputs,
however I think as the synth was already inserted it didn't generate any
further channels, and there weren't any parameters I could find to assign midi
channels or anything useful.
Worth a try though!

Well, given that the track is inserted not into the FX bin of a track, but into
the Synth Rack, means you won’t have access to the parameters that would
otherwise possibly be available in the inspector.
And if you want to use the synth for routing tracks to the various outputs of
the synth, then you can’t insert it into the effects bin of one specific track,
for then you won’t be able to do this. Am I missing something here?
Thanks.

Hi Yamuna,
Yes sorry to bring you bad news, in fact I've just confirmed this further, I
use Omnisphere 2 quite a lot although I generally simply just insert a new
instance for each instrument, however your question got me curious.
I have Steve Spamers HSC set running on Windows 7, and was able to load up a
library multi patch which consisted of 8 seperate instruments, I also chose the
multi stereo outputs when I loaded the VST, and was able to go into the
instrument mixer page and assign individual midi channels 1 to 8 and audio
outputs A to H, which then gives seperate effect possibilities which I think is
exactly what you are looking for.
I wish I could suggest a solution, however it appears to be all down to the
accessability of the soft synth you use, I don't suppose your synth exposes any
parameters through the track inspector that help!
Good luck, and I hope you can find a workaround,
Best,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Thank you. You have confirmed the workflow.
Unfortunately it only proves what I have been fearing the most: that we have to
work inside the instrument plugin window, to asign the midi channels to the
various instrument’s virtual outputs to achieve independent routing for
different parts played from that same virtual instrument. And that there’s no
other way.
And I don’t have very eager eyes around here to help me understand Hypersonic’s
plugin window for building HSC sets for it. [Sad smile]
I can only play around with Jaws cursor, Auto-labelling graphics from Jaws, and
finding my way around the plugin window using the Jaws cursor. So much for
sightlings.
Anyway thank you, will figure it out somehow.

Hi,
Indeed unfortunately it appears you do have to do some configuration within the
instrument plugin in order to set it's outputs,
Here are a couple of articles, the YouTube tutorial is particularly good as an
explanation...

Hi JSonar listers,
I Wonder if someone here could help.
I’m about to start production on a new song, but before I do that, I’m trying
to build a less system-intensive template to use in Sonar. One of my goals for
this is to load fewer soft synths, by taking advantage of the multiple ports of
the synths to use different audio effects for each.
I’m trying to use Hypersonic Soft Synth’s 4 ports to loat sounds which will
carry different effects on their mapped audio tracks.
However, somehow it’s not working as I expected.
Here’s how I do it.
From the Insert Soft Synth menu, I choose Steinberg Hypersonic. Then from the
insert synth options, I ensure that the following is selected:
Midi Source; First synth output; All synth outputs (stereo).
Now, the problem is that I notice there is only 1 midi source track. If I
manually insert a second midi source track, I notice that the output of that
midi track can only play the one instance of the synth, because only one midi
output becomes available for that synth, not multiple outputs, 1 for each port
of the soft synth. I see that you can choose a different Midi Channel, but
where do you map the different midi channels to play out to a different port of
Hypersonic?
The audio tracks configuration that Sonar sets up look fine; the inputs of the
audio tracks are mapped correctly to the different outs of the instruments
multiple ports.
So my question then: How do you configure the midi tracks so that you get to
play out to the different audio tracks with different port configurations so
that you can have different effect plugins for each of them?
Do you really have to map midi channels to output ports inside Hypersonic’s
interface itself, before choosing a different midi channel in Sonar’s track
view? I hope not, because the interface is not accessible to Jaws as you
probably know, and nobody has been brave enough to write Hotspot Clicker sets
for Steinberg Hypersonic either for Jaws.
Or do us blind producers really have to insert a completely separate soft synth
for each effect configuration we desire? That’s the way I’ve been doing it all
along, and I was hoping instead to build a new template taking advantage of the
soft synth’s multiple output ports, and thus to avoid having so many instances
of the instrument loaded. But this doesn’t seem to be working.
Anyone has any advice on how to configure this setup?
In fact, dare I even ask, has anyone been able to play around inside Steinberg
Hypersonic’s interface with Jaws – as I am beginning to suspect more and more
as I write this, that you have to map channels to output ports of the synth
inside the synth’s interface?
Thanks good people.
Kind regards,
Yamuna Jivana Dasa
