Good Afternoon,
Please join us on Friday, August 26, when Kathy Rose will present, "What's New
in LinkedIn?" at the Job Search Learning Labs.

Two weeks ago, we had a LinkedIn presentation by Jonathan Jacobs with our
largest attendance this year, so I know there are folks out there who just need
a jump-start in creating a LinkedIn page.

As I quoted from the Cincinnati Enquirer a few weeks ago, nearly 90 percent of
companies will begin recruiting through social media in 2011. That is up from
83 percent in 2010. Social recruiting is on the rise for companies and it has
become crucial to be active in social media for not only the job search, but
for career advancement. Online profiles are 21st-century resumes.

If you have been thinking about getting started with LinkedIn, here is your
chance. Just because you attended a JSLL LinkedIn class in the past, don’t
think it will be repeated information. LinkedIn is constantly changing,
advancing, upgrading, and introducing new features so you need to constantly
update and upgrade your profile page to keep pace.

Kathy is an Independent Consultant/Contractor at Rose Research for Results. She
has a strong background in Market Research / Shopper Insights / Consumer
Insights and Social Media. She is our Twitter "guru" too!

Kathy is the JSLL Program Director, so if you ever have an idea for a
presentation you would like covered or you want to research and present a
topic, please let Kathy know. Think how nice it would be to add your volunteer
presentation skills to your LinkedIn profile. Let potential employers know you
are willingly and actively learning research and presentation skills. Your job
search is more than just looking for work.

The computer lab will be available after the meeting until approximately 4:00
for LinkedIn page help, ideas, suggestions, or to have your picture taken. We
will even help you add it to your page!
