Does that mean having to register, every time it is reinstalled and a limit?

Does that mean the nocd patch or the official 9.1 patch.

The
second is that you don't need a CD in the drive to use FSX as it is
activated online like Win XP. It also will not run on any Windows version
except Vista and XP2 - apparently not on an unpatched version of XP.

Back on line and I'd answered the first question in the reply to Frank; having just come to your own, after.

System on the new one is:
Mobo ASUS P5B
Processor INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6700 (2 X 2.67GHZ) 1066MHZ FSB/4MB Cache
Graphics Card 256Mb Geforce 7600GT PCI-Express + DVI + TV Out
Memory 2048 Mb CORSAIR DDR2-667 PCS300
Hard Drive SATA II 250Gb @ 7200rpm, 8Mb Cache
Hard Drive 2 SATA 11 80Gb @ 7200 rpm, just transferred from my old
machine.

Initial economies were on memory and the graphics card. If FSX dictates, and
cash available, I'll increase to 4096 Mb. On Shep's advice I went for the
7600GT, initially. The top end card was about £300 extra! He thinks prices
will plummet when DirectX X comes out and new cards have to be produced to
use it.

Only significant hitch, so far, apart from not being able to get on line
with anything but this laptop, is second graphics card. The new machine
won't recognise either of my old PCI cards. Getting decent information is
extremely difficult but it looks as though a PCI-Express card will only run
with others of that conformation. Whilst doing a trawl I came across news of
Matrox having launced the 550. This is PCI-E x 1, so I have three of those
slots available, as well as three PCI. The icing on the cake is that the 550
looks to be a genuine dual head, like my much missed Matrox 400 Dual Head
AGP; stil languishing in a drawer.

Yep - but what happens when you re-enable the second processor as
suggested?

Whilst you are here can you give us a rundown on your current system
now?

Frank, I've had a quick look at the first, CPU related, suggestion. In untouched state, with both processors ticked, CPU Useage is 54%, one processor burbling just below max and the other burbling along just above the baseline. FPS is about 57, at Ronaldsway.

With only one processor ticked, CPU Useage is down to 51%. One
processor is a straight line at max, the other barely discernible
above baseline and fps probably about 2 to 3 lower than in the first
situation.

The Default was both running with FS9, which was producing marginally beter framerates.

Brighter brains than mine my deduce something from this.

Can't look at the effect of FSUIPC on blurries, since my version seems
to have become unregistered, at some stage.

found > it. > > DualCore Processors > >
> > Start FS in windowed mode.
> > Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to get the task manager, click
performance
tab,
and
> > observe that FS is only using one processor.
> > The left graph will show a heavy load, the right a light
load.
> > Click on processes, and look for FS9.exe, and select
Infinity.
Remove

> > the check mark from one processor.
> > Close the window and then repeat the process, and select
both processors >
> > again.
> > FS9 will now spread the load over the 2 processors.
> >
> > Or search the Microsoft Support for Dual core hot fix.

> >
> > Blurries
> >
> > ie textures not loading fast enough
> > Check your visibility settings in the registered version of
FSUIPC.
> >
> > Hope this will be of help, or you already know this.
