Surely it doesn't work like that.

The Main channel radio buttons give the options for Right, Both or Mute so
if you select the last it turns the speaker off.

The Sub channel gives Left, Both or Mute. Below these I've never understood
what the Other Voice radio button does as it is always greyed out. Internal
Voice is the only choice for me.

The mute setting on my setup ONLY mutes microphone feedback into the
headphones.  It doesn't mute
transmission.  I only discovered this recently after I had been transmitting
happily with the mute
box ticked.
