So the new editor is only producing FSX compatible output whereas the old
FS2004 XML files work perfectly well in FSX..
 
I wonder why they've changed it? Must look in Freeflight to catch up with
the thinking.

Ah, that looks like it! Comparing the digiatl airspeed gauges for the two
versions shows a vast difference in the construction, although they do
exactly the same thing. The reverse polish scripts seem consistent though.
