Frank, Forgot to ask but does the Exeter shop have a website? An FS specialist seems a definite assett.

AGP has already reached it's limit, you would be hard put to find a compliant Mobo.
It's all PCIXpress now.
As Bones says, it is heading for HDI as well, depends on your needs and pocket of course.
Regards CPU's the new kid on the block is Intel's Conroe Duo2, said to be clock for clock faster than AMD, and cooler and quieter than the earlier ill fated P4s.
AMD is currently consolidating, and cleaning up the server market, of which Intel has lost a big slice. Their FX and Opteron chips are in demand for gaming rigs. I think they are biding thier time and will shortly announce their quad chips.
Intel is in a quandry, they have stakes in ATI video cards, and so do AMD. There is going to be a big battle there. And ATI want to use the spare capacity at the AMD plants to produce.
However, that does not solve you current situation.
As Intel and Microsoft go hand in hand, and if you are a committed Intel user.
Then that is the route to go.
By all means go for Dual core/PCIXpress, FSX/Vista will need 4gb Ram.
For video? how deep is your pocket!!
Again, look at the use you will be putting it to.
I am figuring on spending at least £1200 on a complete build next year (I am keeping my present AMD 64 3200 intact. And that does not include FSX and Vista.
I will look it up, but there is a build shop over in Exeter, which specialises in building machines for Flight Sim, they of course will have the resources and knowledge.
Hope this puts a little light at the end of the tunnel?
