How are you trying to put entries into the JAWS Dictionary File? You do it by hitting Insert or JAWSKey plus d, then if you want a default pronunciation change, press ctrl-shift-d. You're anyway focused on the Add button, so type in the actual word whose pronunciation you want to modify. that done, tab once and type your new pronunciation. Tab to ok and hit enter. Hit ctrl-s to save, and exit with alt-f4. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Hawk" <khawk@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "jf w list" <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 18, 2005 9:45 PM Subject: words into the dictionary Hi everyone, Got a Jaws question. I've been trying to put words into the dictionary manager. I can put the word in and I can put in the pronunciation I want for that word. I can even hit the okay button but when I go to save it, Jaws gives me the following error message. You do not have a profile in which to write this file. Please select a custom directory where this file can be written. That's followed with an okay button. Now when I go to pick a directory and write the file, I've tried to put that file in several places but the word is still pronounced incorrectly. In fact, when I go to rewrite that word into the dictionary, it acts like I never put it in there in the first place and I get the same error message as before. So what gives? I know someone's got the answer.
