Re: what should be checked in lay out in outlook express?

Yes I would uncheck the preview pane in layout, and then as I said the 
checkbox about preview pane on the read tab in options doesn't even apply.

e-mail. Also was i given the right advise to uncheck the preview pane in the
options uder read tab? Do you know anything about the preview pane there?
