Unchecking the viewer will just not let it show on the screen.  It will still 
work, though.  The on-screen viewer is handy if you have a sighted person with 
you who wants to see what you are reading.

I like the viewer, although the terms they use in it are not immediately 
obvious.  "Type in the value" is one I get when I want to print a document in 
Word and pressed Control P.  Why not "Type in the number of copies you want."  
It also takes for granted your understanding of some screen elements.  If you 
don't know what a "spin box" is, it won't define it.  It will just tell you it 
is there.
