Hi!
I have VLC, and wish that functions such as play and pause were readily
accessible.

Subject: video playing software somewhat accessible to jaws

Hi everyone, for those that use bit torrents to download movies or tv shows,
or if you get a video you just want to play on your computer, and for whatever
reason you get the message that says windows cannot open this because it
doesn't recognize the file extention, I found a software that can be use
someewhat with jaws. It is called vlc media player. You can get this from
www.videolan.org When you go to the website, arrow down a few times, and you
will get to a link that says vlc media player. Click that link. Then you need
to select the operating system. For this example we will use windows. Arrow
down, and jaws will come to the windows link. Click that link. When the neew
page is loaded, if you have jaws 5.0 or higher, you can use the h key to jump
straight to vlc media player for windows. At this point you need to select a
download mirror basically a site to download the program. I think there were
seven choices. I selected the first choice in the list. After you select your
choice a couple of things may happen. Eeither the download will start right
away, or you will hear a noise like I did thanks to service pack two, and you
will need to click the link that says click here if the download doesn't start.
I assume people know how to download so I will stop at this point and move on
the actual software part. Keep in mind that I am still very new to this
software. When I installed it I just accepted all the defaults. The install
part works fine with jaws. Jaws will read all the things in the installation
process. After thee program is installed the fun begins. When you want to play
a video file open the program. If you just want to play the file all you do is
press control o for open. Then you just go to where you have your file located,
and tab to the open button. It takes a few mintues for the file to start
playing so don't panic if it doesn't play right away. The meenu is somewhat
accessible. Either Jaws doeesn't read everything or there aren't too many
options within the menu. Hope this helps, and have fun listening.
