I've turned off Automatic Updates but I still go to Microsoft and see what they 
want me to update.  If it looks suspicious, I see what it is they Microsoft is 
recommending.  I can check out the security bulletins.  The best way is to set 
a restore point before I install something that will affect the video, for 
example.
