Nothing that I know of.
Thinkpads always had the reputation of costing slightly more and being
built slightly better.
As for the other names, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, etc., they all had the
reputation of being good and about the same. Some of the bargain
laptops had the rputation of failing, or not being as well supported
(that's actually quite important; to buy your laptop from someone who
will supply you with a steady stream of updates specific to your
laptop). IBM was great about that, who knows about Lenovo now that they
own thinkpads.
I just got a Dell and find their update software site extremely
difficult to use, so I don't know what I think about their support yet.
