Wait!!! I have never had to format a blank disk for recording. What is
this nonsense your tech is telling you? I've burned hundreds of CD's and
others here have burned thousands. This is the first ever I've heard of
having to format a CD; except of course as another member here said, with
reference to using a CDRW as a data or floppy disk.

The Constantly BAREFOOTED Ray

Thanks John. My tech told me that I had to format every new blank CD. I'm
hopefully going out on Sunday to get new CDs and I'm asking the clerk for
pre-formatted discs. I don't think anything is written on the CD I'm trying
to record on, according to jaws nothing took. I'm confused because last
week when the tech did it all went well but I can't even get one word
recorded. I'll try again Sunday after I get the new discs. Are the
keystrokes I sent you before accurate? Is there another way to do it? When
I first got the burner I was given a list of steps that sounded complicated
but these are so simple and they worked for the tech. Thanks for your help,
Judith
