That's the disk check utility,
not the same as the system file checker.

open up my computer
highlight your hard drive
press alt enter to bring up properties
control tab to tools
first choice is check for errors
enter on check now
but, then tab aroundand check the two boxes
then tab to start and enter
you will get a message about starting your computer again to run
press ok then restart your computer
right there your computer will restart
it will take a lot longer to start up because it will run a full system
check and recover any bad sectors
good luck

Hi Roden,
On Win98SE, you can just type "SFC", in the run dialogue.
I'm not sure this utility is available on WinXP, unless it has another name.
I tried typing SFC, in the run dialogue, but when I pressed enter, it just
closed the dialogue.
Perhaps someone else can shed some more light on this subject.

Hi Ricque!

Thanks to your response. Where can I find the SFC on her system?
