warning do not do that, first of all if you use 9x just type in sfc with no
slash or parameter.

here is why.

most newer operating systems like windows me and xp do not allow the system
files to be changed during software installation so replacing them hurts
nothing.

unfortunately in 9x this is not the case, so rolling back the system files
may stop many programs from working correctly that you installed on your
system.

as you install programs and up date i e the system files them selves where
change.

these chages where maid to make their program work better.

in the case of i e you basicly change the operating system because m s had
this bad idea of making i e part of the o s.

so an i e upgrade actually changes your system files as well.

so you need to manually run it.

of course this assumes you no what changed files are associated with what
programs.

you probably do not.

i also assume you probably never told it to accept changes after a program
installation.

this step is required for s f c to work correctly on fix changed files.

so basicly to play it safe s f c ability to see files that are changed is
useless unless you want to roll back to the original i e.

translation, if you tell it to replace all changed files back to the
original then you change files the newer internet explorer needs to work
properly.

so you break i e in the process.

not to mention some other apts that changed the system files.

so here is one thing it can do.

tab over to settings and press space bar and then tab to where it says
replace missing or corrupted files and check that.

this is differant from changed files.

you may need the cd rom of windows, but most computers have the windows cab
files on the harddrive.

so point it to the correct location.

realize you do not want changed files replaced, because they where probably
changed for upgrades or to make other programs you installed work correctly.

after you finish in settings tab over to o k then tab to run and it will
take off and do its thing.

it will prompt you each time.

if running this does not fix your problem with just replacing missing
corrupted or missing files then you may have to roll back your system to
the original inter net explorer and re run it with replace any changed
system files checked.

to do this you go into add remove to remove the newer i e.

then re run sfc.
