This has a very functional use. It means that you can move back and forth between a couple of applications say, moving text or entering data in one application from information in another without having to cycle through all open applications. If you need to move to another you still have that option. I use it all of the time. Why in hell should that make a difference but it does. releasing the alt key gives the behavior I described before. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Skarstad" <toonhead5@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2004 11:01 AM Subject: Re: switching between programs > uh ok, I'm glad I read this one because i didn't understand what on earth > the switchbox was. > I changed the subject line to better reflect the question. > What I do in this instance is keep pressing the tab key while the alt key > is still down, in other words, first press the alt key and then press tab > and you'll move to another program. with the alt key still down, press the > tab key once again and you'll cycle through all the open programs. once you > get to the one you want, you can give it focus and off you go to do > whatever it is you want. > I hope this is clear enough. > > > > > > > > At 11:36 AM 5/26/2004, you wrote: > >When I have eudora open and msn instant messenger, and I'm talking in a > >window to someone, I cannot return to the eudora program using alt + > >tab.
