Boy. I sure sent this to the wrong list. I was feeling so good I didn't realize what I was typing. <grin>

Subject: success mapping a synth

I'm feeling pretty darn good right now. I figured out how to map the controls of my An1x synthesizer to the Cakewalk TTS soft synthesizer. Don't know how I stumbled into it. I was just looking at the synth properties and saw a whole bunch of graphics. So I started right clicking around and up pops a dialog to map the reverb. I tabbed around in that dialog and found a learn checkbox. So I figured, this has to be the magic controller learning function. I tried it out and it actually worked. So, I messed around some more, right clicking here and there, trying to get a map in my head of the layout. I found quite a few parameters there that I wanted to have direct control over. I couldn't see a way to save the new settings but I found the preset combobox so I typed in a name and tabbed to the save button. Then I saved the project as a template.

I sure was happy when I later opened that template and all the knobs worked as they had been programmed.

Cakewalk TTS isn't great but at least I have a start.

I sure hope I can get other soft synthesizers to map to my controller. The An1x only has 8 knobs plus ribbon controller and 3 foot switches or peddles plus mod and pitch bend. So, I'm thinking I'll get a controller with a lot more controls in the future.
