Hi,
I have a solution I think. Give it a try. What have you got to lose at this
point.

First off I would delete the icon that jaws created.

next I would run disk cleanup and disk defragmenter. This would tell me if
there was any problems with my hard drive like bad sectors or such.

Then go into the start/all programs menu and find jaws 8. Use my
applications key and send a new shortcut to the desktop.

Then find the new icon and try again to put the shortcut in and see what
happens.

The reason for this is that somehow the icon that was first created could be
not quite right and therefore re-creating it might help.

  Heya list,

Even though I haven't installed Jaws 8 yet this problem is too consistent
and with experience Jaws users, has anyone over in the States especially
tried calling FS about this problem cause once again FS releases a new
version and surprise surprise little things that we assumed should be still
there have decided to go walkabouts.

  Lift your game FS

Flor, I have tried to use any number of different hotkeys, and none of
them seem to work for some reason.
    Cheers.

Sorry, but the solution may be to just come up with a hot key that does
work. I have discovered that sometimes, for no reason discernible, some hot
keys won't work with programs (on Windows XP) but that others will.

When I attempted to assign the hot key to my wife's installation of
jfw8, no matter where I assigned the hot key, in start menu or desk
top, it would not stick. It was not that it was assigned somewhere
else on the computer, just control-alt-j would not work. It still
doesn't. I've been doing these computers since 1992 so this is an old
procedure which in a new way, does not work no matter how I fiddle
with it.
