still can't defrag my winxp pro

I have a serious problem and I can not defrag my system. I can do check errors
but not defragmentation.
It stops with a message that tells about file: c:\recycled\Dc15.lnk is
corrupted.
I tried some restore points and it didn't work too.
Please, try to tell me what can I do before getting the drastic action of
formating and reinsalling winxp pro from the beginning and to install all the
other programs.
