Hi,
What kind of loss of power are you talking about? I know on my laptop, I have it set so that when ever the battery level reaches "cridical low"which is 3 percent, it goes into hibernation.
Cheers,
Jeff

Hi there,
I've checked out both XP machines (one laptop and one desktop) and found that UPS only exists in desktop. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers,
Joseph

hi Joseph.

apologies for my negligence.
checking power options on my laptop reveal among others power
schemes, alarm
battery status, advance, but nothing to the effect of UPS.
Is it hidden or what? and if it's hidden, how to unhide it? i
need to know
it as i find it a cool feature in the event of power disruption
which is
rather common in my neighbourhood.
thanks for sharing.

Hi there,
You've just wrote to the wrong person (lol). I'm not Steve (I'm
Joseph).
Go to Start/Control Panel/Power Options. From here,
instructions differs
between XP and Vista:
If you are using XP, go to UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply)
TAB and
choose your option there. I'm not sure how to do it though
because it's
been months since I've tampered with it.
Under Vista, you have to select a Power Plan and select Change
Power
Settings and configure it from there.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Do someone do a podcast on Power Options under XP
and Vista
with JAWS?

Hi Golden,
Yes. You go to Control Panel/Power Options and set it there.
By the way, UPS (in this context) stands for Uninterruptable
Power Supply.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi, I use it quite a lot. With my UPS [I think its an APC] came
a program
call APC PowerShoot personal edition and everytime there is a
power
disruption it hibernates my computer.

hi Steve

you've brought up an interesting point with regard to power
disruption.
is there a way to leave your machine in hibernate mode whenever
power
interruption occurs?
thanks for sharing.

Hi friends, I use JAWS 7.0 and have no problems when I come out
of
hibernation or standby mode. Personall, I prefer to hibernate
my system
if
I
must as oppose to standby. My UPS hibernates my computer if
ever there
is
some disturbance of power and i like that because i can pick up
where i
left
off when my computer boots up again.

hi,
hibernate is mostly been use for laptop, this is to safe
battery.
standby
just to turn some devices into standby mode and it is not
shuts down the computer. hibernate will keep all your current
task in
the
memory and turn off the laptop, when you return, you will
be bring back to where you stop previously.

hope this helps.

Warmest Regards,
Allan Wong

  No,
I wish to use stand by instead of turning off my system and
therefore,
it's important to find a solution to that problem that Jaws
is running as demo after I'm coming back from stand by position.
I do know that when I restart my PC, all is right and Jaws is
working
properly, not as demo.

  Any other help please.

    Hi,
Try restarting your system. I have had that happen to me
several
times, and usually when I restart my Pc, that resolves the
issue and I return from stand by or hibernate modes, Jaws comes
back
as
a
full version .  I have done this on both of my systems;
laptop is running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and Jaws 8.0.2107,
desktop
is
running Windows XP Home with SP2 and Jaws 8.0.2107, and,
both systems have latest updates installed.
    Hope this helps,
    Jeff

    Hi friends,

I've read an interesting article about using stand by and
that
it's
very healthy for the PC, may save much time and energy too.
    So today I tried it.
When I come back from stand by position, Jaws is coming but
only
as
demo mode.
Can someone tell me what to do to solve that problem?

I'm using win XP professional, SP2 with all the latest
updates and
Jaws 8.0.2107.

    Thanks much
