speech rate

Hi All,
On my laptop, HP Pavilion 64 bit, Windows7, Office 2007 and JAWS 11 I
observed the following.
When in Outlook 2007 and reading full document if you attempt to adjust the
speech rate using the pg up and pg down nothing appears to happen - until -
you stop the reading process and *then* the rate change will take effect.
I kept pressing the pg up and nothing was happening so I pressed the 5 on
numpad and, WALLAk, JAWS was reading at about a million words per minute.
