Look in the Ms Word, Insert Symbols Dialogue, <Alt+I, <s>, and tab over to Font: Edit, where if you arrow around you will find character symbols plus their ANSI values. Many of the special symbols have shortcut keys; or, tabbing further on in that dialogued, you can assign your own shortcut key. C cedilla ç - for example - is ctrl+comma+c, ctrl+comma+ShiftC, or ANSI 199 (uppercase), or ANSI231 (lowercase). You can type a character's ANSI value by: toggling numlock key on; press and hold down the Alt key along with the numpad zero (Insert) key, then type in the value using the numpad, and when done toggle numlock off. ----- Original Message ----- From: <ptusing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 9:41 PM Subject: spanish characters & Insert + 4 in Word Hi, Thanks. I was trying to find key command to type cedilla and the inverted question mark without using "insert + 4" as sometimes I type so fast in Spanish I would just assume type the keystrokes right then rather than search through the insert + 4 box. However the insert 4 box is a big improvement for Spanish users. On another subject, in Win 95, JAWS 5 in Eloquence did do language switching and I don't recall having made changes to JAWS. ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Chandni" <chandni1@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 3:34 PM Subject: Re: Insert + 4 in Word > CTRL-SHIFT-8 will toggle the option on and off. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <ptusing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 6:48 AM > Subject: Insert + 4 in Word > > > > Amazingly, invoking the JAWS command insert + 4 cleared the paragraph > > markers and space markers from Word. > > How nice. > > > > If there is a fast cedilla since insert + 4 lacks it, let me know. > > Otherwise insert + 4 is useful for language characters. > > > > > > -- > > To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to > jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line. > > Archives located at: //www.freelists.org/archives/jfw > > > > If you have any concerns about the list, post received from the list, or > the way the list is being run, do not post them to the list.
