Hi:

Try going into the default configuration manager, to text processing, and check
the following:

Note if it does not read properly in other applications check the configuration
in those applications as well.

. Numeric date: "Some translation:.

Use this list to determine how JAWS speaks dates written in numeric formats.

If you select "No Translation," JAWS reads numeric dates as numbers. This
option is selected by default.

If you select "Some Translation," JAWS translates numeric dates of month
followed by day followed by year and separated by slashes or dashes.

For example, JAWS reads "03-16-00" as "March sixteenth two thousand."

If you select "Extended Translation," JAWS translates numeric dates of month
followed by day and separated by slashes or dashes - in addition to those dates

translated with "Some Translation" selected.

For example, JAWS reads "03-16" as "March sixteen."

If you select this option, many numeric fractions are read as dates. For
example, "1/3" is read as "January three."

. Number Processing: "the current synthesizer".

Use this list to determine how numbers are read.

If you select "Controlled by Synthesizer," the current synthesizer determines
how numbers are read. This is the default option.

If you select "Single Digits," JAWS reads numbers as a series of single numbers.

For example, "123" is read as "one two three."

If you select "Pairs," JAWS reads numbers as a series of paired numbers.

For example, "1050" is read as "ten fifty."

If the number has an odd number of digits, JAWS reads the first digit as a
single digit and pairs the rest.

For example, "123" is read as "one twenty three."

If you select "Full Numbers," JAWS always reads numbers as complete numbers.

For example, "123" is read as "one hundred twenty three."

. Punctuation Mode: "controlled by JAWS".

Use this list to determine how JAWS reads punctuation.

Select "Controlled by Synthesizer" if you want your synthesizer to control
reading of punctuation. Select "Controlled by JAWS" to allow JAWS to control

how punctuation is read, according to the voice settings you specify. This is
the default setting.

. To change the way your computer displays the time

1. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.

To open Regional and Language Options, go to Start, Control Panel, and then
enter on Regional and Language Options.

2. On the Regional Options tab, under Standards and formats, click Customize.

3. On the Time tab, make sure that is reads h:mm:ss tt

. If you do not see this format you want in Time format, , then add :

h:mm:ss tt

* note it is case sensitive.

HTH

Sincerely,
Terrill Reynolds

HI
Jaws always says 2006 when it encounters the figure 2006 in any
document, such as the figure 2006 to indicate the year 2006.
But now all of a sudden jaws says second 006. why is this? There is no
dictionary entry that tell jaws to say second instead of reading the
figure correctly.--
