scan disk not working

hello friends, I am new to the list, I am facing a problem I have to reinstall 
windows, before it when my computer was shut down improperly it performed a 
scan disk to correct the errors but after reinstalling windows it is not doing 
so, I can do it manually but is there a way to correct it? please help,
