I know that JFW 3.x and 4.x had a version of JFW on the CD which could be run from the CD. You simply inserted your 3.5 inch authorization diskette, and JFW would automatically look for it after it was launched.

I think this special version of JFW was in a separate folder on the CD, and was not named JFW.EXE. Check some of your old JFW CDs to find it. This is the set-up you have in mind, because it doesn't involve installing JFW on a computer.
