Claudia, I think the speed depends on what format is being used and audio 
quality, both of which are adjustable in Windows Media Player under tools, 
options and the rip page.

I rip CDS with CDEX all of the time, and it doesn't take me nearly as long 
as you mentioned.  It usually takes me between 5 and 8 minutes to have the 
CD ripped onto my system!

Maybe, it has to do with the amount of ram you have, versus what I have?
I have a newer computer!
I'm not sure.
