Hello Bob,
I can't speak for Steve, but please allow me to describe my own experience
with this issue. although I know a lot of folks habitually delete many an
email they've read while it's still open, which is supposed to open the next
unopened message, I don't do that. I always close a message I've been
reading, whether or not I then choose to delete it. Often I don't delete it.
Just depends.

So, in my case, it's a simple case of misbehavior in a list view, and this
happens within a files list view of a folder on my hard drive just as it
happens in my Outlook Express Inbox. It has nothing to do with open
messages. I delete a message from the list-- and it doesn't matter whether
I've opened and closed it or not, and Jaws speaks its name in the listing
just as if I had just landed on it with my focus. Only once I learned that
Jaws 8 has this quirk did I learn to double check after a deletion by
pressing Say Line (Insert 8) to see what item I'm *really* on.

Just so it doesn't appear that this happens only to people who delete a
message from within it while it's open.

That's because your are still in the original message.

Let me ask you this, do you open an email, then decide to reply to it using
the Alt+R key combo and when you are done composing the reply to the email
you use Alt+s to send it and then hear that message from JAWS?

Think real hard, if the answer is yes it is because you still have the
original email message open that you had before you elected to reply to the
message. You never closed the email message and JAWS is letting you know the
message is still open!

If not, then It isn't clear what you are posting here

HTH,
Bob

well this is a tricky one to explain. As I am replying to you, when I am
done I will hit alt s for send. then jaws will say from boa cat. Now if I
hit the delete key your message will go away but jaws will still say from
boa cat
