Hi, I have removed windows messenger from the first time I had xp.. With no adverse affects, unless you wish to use remote desktop. I could be very wrong, but like I said I have not run into any problems at all and I have had windows messenger removed from all 3 of my systems for over 2 years now.. In fact I trim down my system substantially with a util called xplite. Like removeing the out of box experience, go back to the old style of search , plus so much else I cant remember. But simply disabling it will more or less achieve the same thing really. hth.
