What's your mailer?  there are ways to rid yourself of > signs.  the = sign,
it's something caused by the interaction of someone's mailer and the list I'm
assuming.

Between, = and greater and less signs I have trouble reading mail that is for
sure.  But, some people including me do not know how to get rid of them
without altering jfw and that I do not want to do.
