That is too bad about farmville etc. I see a lot of people using this and some games similar. Also got stuff like gifts and such for these applications from contacts but had to tell them I cannot use these. I will give mafia wars a shot though. There are several Facebook applications that are visual/not accessible (e.g. FarmTown, Cafe and YoVille). However, MafiaWars is certainly accessible. The gifts in Farmville are just items to improve your chances at conquering the game. In MafiaWars, items can be gifted/shared. If I need an item to complete a task and can't continue playing without the item, a friend/team player can gift the item to me. There are gifts that can be purchased...not necessarily in MafiaWars...I choose not to purchase anything on Facebook applications so can't say much about that. MafiaWars is the only "game" that I use. I've had success with various other applications though. There are some applications that could probably be used by someone who has lots of good JFW skills. Unfortunately most of the applications I want to use require JFW skills that are out of my range or because of the visual nature of the application makes it impossible to access it via screenreader. I always try Facebook applications that perk my interest...it's always exciting when I have success. (smile) Try an application; if it doesn't work for you, remove it from your profile/list of applications and block friend requests, etc. from that application. One last hint, check out the help materials on Facebook...I've found them to be extremely helpful. So far as I know none of the FaceBook games work with a screen reader. My wife and family are head over heels with the Farmville, CafeWorld and such games but all I can do is listen to them. (frownie face) All of the "gifts" are virtual.. Hi list members, Ken here. I've been active on facebook, and have 56 friends in a little over a month. I have had several sessions where I have received gifts on the different games and things there. Most notable is the Farmville game. Last night I had 20 requests. I accepted most of them. I also got a few cause videos which I turned down and a cartoon thing called Yoville. I turned that down too. Some of the requests are something like this. So And So sent you a green present or a blue present. The player is supposed to open them at Christmas as part of the game. I've seen the play farmville button but have yet to tinker with it. Does anyone know how that game works and if the gifts are actually prizes or are they just gifts that are virtual for the game? I also gotten invites to participate in Roller coaster kingdom including one or two items from NFB performing arts division member Adrienne Snow. She has some sight so she likely uses a screen magnification program on her machine, but do any of you know how these Aps work with screen readers? Oh Yeah there are a few that I do have a feel for like the snowball fight ap. of course I've hit the fight back button. There also a bar tending ap think it's called pass that drink or something like that. Had three requests from that. all by the same person. This after she hit me with snowballs in the snowball fight.
