A couple of questions on Total Recorder please.
1 Does this product record in stereo from an external source?
2 If recording from old vinyl records, does it have noise reduction
capability?
If the answer to the above is yes, how well does it work with Jaws 7.0?
Last, where can it be purchased from?

Nope, my copy of Total Recorder doesn't have the "what you hear" option.
Mine only has five including, CD Player, Microphone, Line In, Aux, and
Wave Mix. I guess it's a moot point really, since I got it working
anyway. But I get paranoid about these kind of things when someone tells
me there should be an option there and my copy doesn't have it. Thanks
for the help. I'll be sure to check out the ACB site for the info you
mentioned. I already started my recording. Knowing how to go back and
edit the recording will be very helpful. I'd love to get that Studio
Recorder software from American Printing House, but it's just too
expensive. I'll try to make do with Total Recorder. I'm considering
upgrading to the Pro version which has more features that should come in
handy.

That's where you need to arrow around and find the What you hear choice.
Also, go into your Volume Control on your Pc. On the menu with the alt
key, you'll find properties. Go in there and look around. You can
change settings for playback and recording. If you select recording,
then when you exit the menu, you can tab around and change various
settings. If you select What you Hear instead of the line in, you can
set recording levels for the microphone, line in, etc separately.
Now, having said that, I don't know if it is dependent on your
particular sound card. I have a Soundblaster Audigy II card.
There is a good article in the ACBRadio Main Menu archives on using the
Volume Control. If you listen to that, it can probably describe it much
better than I did.
I think it was Jonathan Mosen who did it, and he specifically mentions
the What You Hear choice. So, give it a listen. There are also a few
good articles on their archive on Total Recorder, and you might find
them helpful as well.

I did manage to get it to record both the Jaws speech and the
microphone audio but I didn't find any option called "what you hear". I
do have another question though. How do I configure Total Recorder to
have the Microphone audio be louder than the Jaws audio. These are the
settings I used by the way:
Under Recording Source and Parameters
* I chose Sound Board
* I chose to record through Total Recorder
* I chose the option, "use This Line" and selected Wave Out Mix
I mention this just in case anyone else out there would like to try
this with Total Recorder 5.3.

When you load the program, press enter on the Recourding source and
parameters button. As you tab across, you'll find a combo box that
lists the sources for your recording. Move up and down and choose
What You Hear. This will record everything going through the sound
card including Jaws, music, etc. You likely have it on microphone
right now.

Does anyone know how to record an audiomix of JAWS speech and
microphone input simultaneously? I'm trying to do this using Total
Recorder 5.3. I was trying to create an audio tutorial to submit to
the Main Menu web site but so far I can only record either the Jaws
speech or the microphone audio but not both at the same time. I want
to do this through the software or the sound card settings. I'd rather
not have to record the Jaws speech using the microphone. It doesn't
sound as clear when you do it that way. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!
