More tricky, you could use a USB floppy drive if you can get hold of one. the other way is to copy the Unattended script to the CD itself, that is a little more complicated but can be done. Where are you located in the world? ----- Original Message ----- From: dianna alley To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 2:02 PM Subject: Re: question what if you don't have a floppy drive? I can get a cd I think. thanks for the instructions. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steven Hicks To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 6:16 AM Subject: Re: question Very easy, I can help you with this if you like? You have a Microsoft Windows XP CD? Here are some very quick instructions: 1. Insert CD in to drive. 2. copy your unattended script to a floppy disk if you have one. 3. Boot up the PC and press the space bar when prompted to boot from CDROM. 4. As soon as it starts reading from the Microsoft Windows CD, put in your floppy disk, the install will start and then look for your answer file on the floppy disk. Once the floppy disk file has been read, you can take it out. I normally wait to hear the drive start up,wait for a few minutes then tak the disk out. It should just install now. Be careful because any information on the drive wil be lost. these are very quick instructions. ----- Original Message ----- From: dianna alley To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 1:09 PM Subject: Re: question well I don't know how to do an unattended installation that is why I am not doing it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steven Hicks To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 6:06 AM Subject: Re: question No real answer to this one apart from you could try it and see. sometimes the plug and play will allow it to boot up in the new machine but in my opinion, it wouldn't be a very clean way to do it. What is wrong with doing an unattended installation on the other machine? ----- Original Message ----- From: dianna alley To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:31 PM Subject: question is their a way I can get a hard drive with windows installed on it so I can just put it into a computer? I know the drivers won't be their, but I know where to get those. the computer is an old gate way. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this e-mail and any attachments is confidential and is intended for the attention and use of the named addressee(s).
