1024x768 high color works best, windows xp but classic buttons. and no
screen saver and I prefer no desktop background.

I've restarted it several times and when I did the system restore it
rebooted then and also when I reinstalled jaws. I'm not sure what I should
be looking for in display settings if that's the problem. Wouldn't the
system restore have reset that?

sorry if this sounds stupid, but did you restart the computer? I haven't
seen that, I do what you're saying all the time, I'd wonder if you have a
display issue or something, I'd restart the computer if you haven't already,
and if it's still that way check your display settings.
