Hate to tell you folks but the exact same problem occurs with JFW 7.0. By either alt tabbing or, better yet, going to windows applications and arrowing to the application and file that's maximized and hitting enter works better. It's a bloody nuisance though.

Hi all,
I actually experience the same problem using Jaws 6.0 with both Windows XP as well as Windows 98 S E.
I can hit insert T to read the title bar, and Jaws does that correctly, but I am unable to arrow up and down within the document. I tried the insert escape keystroke suggested, but for some reason, it does not work for me.
I just to an alt tab out of word, then alt tab back in it, then everything works just fine.
I am using Word 2000.
Looks like a focus issue with Jaws to me.

Subject: opening a Word document in MSWord 2000 using Jaws

Hi All,
If I open Word 2000, then find the file that I want to open and hit enter on
it it opens without a problem and I can read it without a problem, however
if I don't open Word first and just hit enter on the file say from Windows
Explorer I have to close Jaws and restart it once Word opens and brings up
the document or else I can't arrow up and down in the document.

I'm assuming that this is a Jaws problem although I can't pinpoint when this
all started, can anybody tell me why if I open Word first and then pull up
the document I can read it without a problem but if I hit enter on the
document and let Word open automatically I have to restart Jaws before I can
read the document?

Thanks.
Troy
